Daily reflections and journal blog entries
welcome to my blog Saturday September 26, 2026
Welcome to my blog where I share my daily life and my cats and bits of my day‑to‑day life. I live in a trailer in Petersburg, VA in a quiet trailer park that I have called home for 2 full years. I have 3 cats from the ages of 6 months to 2 years old. Bella is 2 — she’s dramatic as you know what and has a mind of her own. Most of the time she does not like to be held and she never cuddles with me, but this morning she crawled on my chest a few times. Ginger is feisty and hates being picked up and will squirm out of my arms trying to scratch me up. Butterscotch is 6 months old — he gets wild with the zoomies, attacks my ankles, and tries to climb up my pant leg. The girls are grey and Butterscotch is orange.
They all have nicknames: Bella is Bella the Big Fatty Cat, Ginger is Gingy, and Butterscotch is Butters. Bella enjoys being in the front room on the bay window watching the world go by, which is where she is hanging out right now. Ginger loves the living room and the cats’ room windows. She also loves watching the world go by and sunbathing in the morning when the sun comes up from the east. Butterscotch loves hanging out with his biggest sissy.
I got all 3 of my cats from across the street. They are blood‑related. My neighbors across the street have 2 cats, Rambo and Pumpkin. Pumpkin is a grey cat with a mixture of colors like Ginger, and Rambo is orange. Bella came from Pumpkin and looks just like her daddy — she gets her big cat features from him. Ginger and Butterscotch come from Rambo. Rambo is Bella’s sister from the same litter.
All day long I have been watching Hallmark movies and enjoying my day. A few weeks ago I got YT TV and I have my home internet back — it was a year since I had home internet, and it feels good to have cable and internet again.
I have had SSDI for 2 years and have been retired for almost 2 years now. I had depression up until almost 3 years ago when I was hospitalized in the mental health ward. While I was in the hospital, I got kicked out of the home I was renting a room in. Three days after I got out, I went to a crisis home, and then they moved me to an adult transitional home where I lived for 6 months until I got my home in Petersburg.
Petersburg was always a special place I wanted to live in for many years, and God answered my prayers when I asked Him to take me far away from Henrico County. I have a lot of trauma in Henrico County, my hometown, and I wanted to get as far from there as I could. I’m living a much happier mental‑health and depression‑free life now.
I wrote 3 books last year, but they didn’t take off like I hoped. I wrote a bio of myself, a memoir, and a journal book where I took a 100‑day journey of healing that cured my mental health. I’m trying again at writing another journal book, but this time I plan on using a different publisher — IngramSpark — because I hope to have my books in major retailers like Target, Walmart, and big bookstores. Each journal entry I write, I pray for words and wisdom, and God helps me with writing my book each and every day. I’ve been writing for over a week now.
I have struggled for a year because after one year of SSDI they signed me up for Medicare, and Medicare was taking $200 from my SSDI check, leaving me $1,000 a month. Without EBT and without transportation, I had to live on cheap food and pay cash. I have a disability that keeps me from standing for long periods, which is why I can’t work anymore. I have had osteoarthritis for 3 years now — maybe longer — but it was diagnosed 3 years ago. It has gotten worse and causes me severe back pain, so I can’t work.
I love being at home with my cats, and I know they love it when I’m always home. I also work on a YouTube channel that I’m trying to monetize. My YouTube channel is Butterscotch & The Girls. You’re welcome to go on YouTube, search us, and subscribe. You’re also welcome to leave me comments — I answer every comment.
Thank you for reading my blog, and I hope you enjoy it.

Sunday morning Journal Blog Entry
I woke up at 6 AM this morning. It was chilly in my house, so I turned the heat on and put my hoodie on to keep warm. I made more iced tea and ate potatoes for breakfast. I’m getting tired of eating just potatoes, and I really hope my EBT card comes tomorrow. I check every day for it to arrive in the mail. I only wish I had a way to get to social services to pick it up, but without transportation I have to wait day by day for it to come.
I’m finishing the Hallmark movie I started last night. I love how these movies always end with a romantic kiss. I just took my morning meds. I forgot to take them yesterday — my alarm went off, but it slipped my mind.
It’s been a chilly and windy morning. I can hear the wind moving around my home. I’m going to close out my journal and blog entry for now.

A Soft and Simple Sunday
Today has been another calm and cozy day. I woke up at 6 AM, and it was chilly in my house, so I turned the heat on and put on my hoodie to stay warm. I made more iced tea and ate potatoes for breakfast. I’m getting tired of eating just potatoes, and I really hope my EBT card comes tomorrow.
I decided to stay in my room today. My futon gets uncomfortable at times, and I’m much more comfortable sitting on my bed, cuddled up under my warm covers. I couldn’t find a good Hallmark movie to watch, so I searched for Amish-based movies on YT TV. Most of the movie results come from YouTube. I’m watching “Plus One at an Amish Wedding.” I’ve seen it before, and it’s a good movie about a doctor who falls in love with a veterinarian and gets invited to his brother’s Amish wedding.
I paused my movie so I could upload a reel of the fur kids on YouTube. I’m working hard to get my channel monetized, even though I know it will take time. I checked my subscriber count and I’m at 878 subs, getting closer to 1k.
It’s 64 degrees outside right now, not as windy as yesterday. Last night the wind was so strong it kept triggering my lightbulb camera’s motion detection. I woke up with 24 notifications. Today is supposed to reach 73 degrees, 74 tomorrow, 79 on Monday, and the 80s return on Tuesday. I’ve enjoyed the cooler weather, but I’m not quite ready for it yet. I didn’t want to use my space heaters before I get my new heaters. The new ones will have a digital thermostat so I can set them to a specific temperature like 75 degrees. I plan on getting five of them—one for each room. I found them at Walmart for $24 each.
My camera is still getting triggered by motion. I have two phones, an iPhone 13 mini and an iPhone 14, but I want to go back to Android. I plan on getting a Galaxy soon from Best Buy. They have unlocked phones for cheap. I want to transfer my Xfinity Mobile service to my future Galaxy. I got a free year of Xfinity Mobile, and I’m thinking about keeping it since it’s only $30 a month.
Well, I’m going to close out my journal blog entry for now.

Monday morning blog
I woke up at 3:00 AM and checked my mail on the USPS website. It showed I don’t have any mail coming today, so no EBT card yet. Maybe it will come tomorrow.
I turned the heat on this morning, and when I woke up again at 8:30, it was 77 degrees in my room. Outside it’s 65 degrees, with a high of 73 today. While I wait for Walker, Texas Ranger to come on, I’m watching Hallmark movies.
For breakfast I had potatoes mixed with a can of mixed veggies, and it filled me up nicely. I miss that full, satisfied feeling and I can’t wait until my EBT card comes so I can get some real food that gives me that feeling again.
Butterscotch is in my room hanging out with me on the box table. The girls are in the living room. Every time I fix something to eat, Bella is always on the counter being nosy, watching what I’m making.
Right now I’m watching a really good Hallmark movie about a man and a woman who go to Cancun on vacation. The man is doing things like playing golf and arranging a boating day, but the woman is afraid of being out on the water, so she backs out. She has an old friend there who is an activities director, and she’s been spending time with him instead. I can already see it: she’s going to ditch the man she came with and fall in love with her old friend. These Hallmark stories always end with love, and that’s what I love about Hallmark movies. I think I’ll keep Hallmark+ for the movies.
The cooler weather is going away for a spell and it’s going to get warmer tomorrow, so I’ll be back to using my AC with the high around 76 in the afternoon. Then the 80s will be back later this week.
Butterscotch just left my room and went into the living room.
I’m going to close my journal blog for now.

A Calm Morning With Sun Tea and Hallmark Love
I decided to use WordPress for my blog journal entries instead of Wix. I put out another pitcher of tea in the sun to brew. There’s something different about sun tea compared to tea made in the microwave or on the stove. Sun tea tastes smoother and more refreshing.
The movie I’m watching is very good, and I believe the woman is going to ditch the guy she came with and go with her old friend who is more fun and adventurous. When I went to refill my tea, I checked on my furkids and cleaned their litter boxes and refilled their food. All of my furkids came into their room while I was doing cat duties.
I haven’t heard from my best friend today and I probably won’t. He’s a realtor and he has a lot of properties and clients he meets with. My team lost to the Commanders yesterday. I was disappointed that the Seahawks lost. I’ve been a Seahawks fan for a long time, ever since my friend Michael Robinson. You probably heard of him — he used to play for the 49ers and then the Seahawks, and he retired when the Seahawks won the Super Bowl about ten years ago. In high school, I sat behind Michael Robinson in government class. It was an honor to sit behind him, not knowing he would become a famous NFL player.
I’m going to close out my journal blog for now.

A Busy Afternoon Building My Journal Blog – September 28, 2026
I’ve been busy for the past hour or two working on my journal blog website. It feels good finally getting everything set up the way I want it. I decided I’m going to post my journal blogs in three places: on my website, on WordPress, and in my journal book that’s going to be published on December 26, 2026. I can’t wait until I can start the publishing process.
While I’ve been writing, I’ve been watching Walker Texas Ranger. I haven’t watched it in a few weeks because I was catching up on When Calls the Heart all the way to the current season. Now I’m trying to finish When Hope Calls, but I need an extra subscription because it moved to Great American Flix. I’m excited to finish seasons 2 and 3 and get caught up. I’m glad they never canceled When Hope Calls — it’s a good show.
I refilled the kids’ water bowl earlier. I use a big mixing bowl for their water, but soon I’m going to buy a water dispenser and a new food dispenser set. It’s 73 degrees outside and a comfortable 75 degrees in my room. Tomorrow I might need the AC on for a few hours in the afternoon until nightfall.
I made my cigarettes earlier. This time I bought a cheap $16 machine. It kept jamming and the lever was hard to push, so I told Copilot about it and he told me to rub a little cooking oil on the cigarette needle with a Q‑tip. Now it works a lot easier. I even put a little bit of oil in a small container so I can keep the needle oiled.
I’m going to figure out my money soon — what I need, what I want to order, and how much I can save. I’m planning to put money into my bill savings on Cash App. I also have someone who’s going to cut my grass for $40. I met him a few days ago when I heard a faint knocking. He was knocking on the empty trailer next door. I opened my door and told him nobody lives there. It was strange because you can clearly tell it’s empty. He told me he and his wife are homeless and they drink water to keep going because they don’t have food. I wish I could help more, but I offered to pay him to mow my grass and fix my sink.
I checked on the cats when I got my sun tea off the front step. I refilled my pitcher and poured a little into my other pitcher that doesn’t have a top. My old neighbor gave me that one. When I refill my tea glasses, I check on my cats and give them love. Butterscotch is the only one who purrs all the time. Bella purrs when she feels like it, and Ginger rarely purrs. Bella only eats her Temptations catnip treats and dry food. She likes mashed potatoes and popcorn but doesn’t like meats. Ginger and Butterscotch like wet food, chicken, beef, and mashed potatoes.
I keep my potato flakes in a creamer jug I saved from my Great Value creamers. I have about half a jug left. I add a little cooking oil, a spoon of powdered creamer, and garlic salt since I don’t have butter. Because of the garlic salt, I don’t let the cats have potatoes since garlic isn’t good for them. I love my cats and I don’t want anything to happen to them.
I’m starting to get hungry again after eating potatoes with mixed veggies. I might make a packet of chicken noodle soup. I’m not sure if it will fill me up, but it will be something different. I’m going to close out my journal so I can eat my late lunch. It’s also almost time to take my Lyrica at 2 PM.
